Iron Powder

IRON100: High Purity, Hydrogen-Reduced General Iron Powder

IRON100 is a high-quality, sponge-textured iron powder produced through a precise hydrogen-reduction process. Unlike ultra-fine powders, IRON100 is characterized by a balanced particle size distribution (nominally 100 mesh) and excellent green strength. Its irregular, sponge-like particle shape and medium density make it a versatile standard for powder metallurgy, offering superior compressibility and binding strength for sintered applications.

Because of its high surface area and consistent flow properties, this reduced iron powder is the preferred choice for industrial applications requiring high chemical purity and reliable mechanical performance.

Common Uses of IRON100

IRON100 is engineered for a broad spectrum of industrial, chemical, and artistic applications, including:

  • Powder Metallurgy (P/M): Manufacturing of low-to-medium density sintered components and structural parts.
  • Resin Casting & Cold Casting: Ideal filler for creating metallic effects in sculptures and castings (rust effect or metallic finish).
  • Magnetic Applications: Production of soft magnetic components, magnetic paints, and magnetic polymers.
  • Chemical Applications: Used as a reducing agent in chemical synthesis and remediation (e.g., groundwater treatment).
  • Brazing & Welding: Formulation of brazing pastes and welding electrode coatings.
  • Education & Testing: Standard iron filings for magnetism experiments and crack detection/flux testing.
